The US Department of Health (opens in new tab) recommends that adults perform “150 minutes to 300 minutes a week of moderate-intensity or 75 minutes to 150 minutes a week of vigorous-intensity aerobic physical activity”. These moderate-intensity recommendations cover activities such as walking, swimming, and performing yard work, and vigorous-intensity activities include jogging, jumping rope, and High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). The USDA also recommends performing “muscle-strengthening activities of moderate or greater intensity and that involve all major muscle groups on 2 or more days a week”, which can include lifting weights, doing bodyweight workouts such as pull-ups, push-ups, and planks, or working out with resistance bands....
