As spotted by GameRant (opens in new tab), Microsoft has filed a patent (opens in new tab) that would let people be able to validate the ownership of a physical game. Once done players would gain access to a digital version of the game. If applied to current generation consoles, this would let Series S owners buy and play physical games. The FX on Hulu show premiered in September 2021, but before it could even finish its first run of 10 episodes it was confirmed that it wouldn’t be returning for season two.
